About JTF-191

JTF-191 Task Force Jupiter was formed in June of 2020, and is a community of like minded DCS virtual pilots composed of several squadrons that study and operator multiple modules.

What's a joint task force?

JTF-191 is composed of virtual pilots that are proficient in multiple air frames, spanning several branches of military. It's common for the JTF to conduct operations that involve the entire group.

When does everyone fly?

The vast majority of squadrons get together two to three times per week, and briefings typically run from 2000 to 2030 EST. Squadron level flights are mostly on weekday nights, while "joint operations" occur each Saturday. See squadron pages for specifics.

Is training offered?

Training is offered to prospective virtual pilots that prove interested. For those that are, get ready to become as familiar with your DCS module as you are with driving your family mini van! JTF-191 has multiple virtual instructor pilots eager to accept training requests and update tacked progress reports. If we happen to lose contact with new pilots in training, we will reach out in 30 days to see if interest remains.

Our training schedule is designed to be flexible. New pilots simply make a request in a specific discord channel, and an IP responds to start scheduling a session.

Are there qualifications?

The goal of JTF-191 is for everyone to have fun simulating missions in DCS, so it's important that all pilots have enough basic knowledge and skill to perform basic functions with their air frames. With that said, there are training items that need to be completed before a prospective virtual pilot is assigned to a squadron. See squadron pages to find out what the "barrier of entry" is terms of training requirements.

How milsim is JTF-191?

JTF-191 strives for enjoyable, highly immersive DCS multiplayer experiences without the bureaucracy of real military protocols that won't fit within the simulator.  Using the table below, JTF-191 reaches for level 3.

Level
Tactics
Communication
Difficulty
Campaign Design
Flight Procedures
4
Full JTF tactics + advanced tactics requirements and ROE enforcement (anti frat planning, JTAC coordination, Collateral Damage Estimates)
Sectored comms plans, ground -> tower -> departure -> center -> tactical-> center ->approach, Complex comms requirements like 9-lines
Near real world iads, advanced iads techniques like skynet, air threats based on enemy capes not balanced towards JTF
Seek strict player OPFOR requirements for mission execution, up to and including combined arms, counterintelligence
All missions require realistic checklisting for most procedures, eg. ground tests, push times, dynamic retask data copy
3
Full JTF tactics integration (operational timeline enforcement, Time on target enforcement, coordinated pushes)
Communications plan enforcement, comms assignments, human GCI
Nearly realistic iads by density and parity level of enemy fighters
Aggressors encouraged, dynamic enemy movement, reactionary enemy planning
Some requirement for complex procedures, eg. refueling, link. Planning and execution of altitude deconfliction as required
2
Flight level coordination, some tactic enforcement (grinders, bomb drop planning, minor roe)
Enforced Comms Brevity and Call out
Target areas are defended, sometimes with unbriefed threats, prepare for the unexpected
Semi-dynamic campaign with planning evolving from previous mission
Procedures must be followed for landing, takeoff, and fence-in, fence-out
1
Launch what you can launch, fight what you can fight some form of target assignment
Plain english communication
Flights have targets to shoot at uncomplex outdated threats
Semi-static shoot house
Start your jet, fly your aircraft

What type of missions are there?

We have many member created missions, and they include PvE, TvT, and PvP types. Mission generators have also been used such as Liberation, Briefing Room, and Olympus. Several members have dedicated training servers as well as operation servers that can track pilot statistics.

Your callsign is not safe!

Justice exists within JTF-191. During the course of joint campaigns, if a pilot is found to commit aggreges act of negligence,  formal charges may be brought against said pilot and brought to the Court Of Reckoning. The CoR will determine if the guilty is proven innocent, and if not justice may be served in the form of a callsign change or something similar.

Active Pilots Only

One of the JTF-191 qualities is activity, and have limits for how many squadron members are assigned to a squadron. If a squadron has a member who is no longer interested in participating, we ask them to let us know to make room for others. Real life can get in the way, and we understand! If your going to be away for a few weeks, we just need to know so we don't think you've abandoned DCS for WoW.
